Brake Power Rules For Goods Trains:
BRAKE POWER CERTIFICATE:
- BPC for a goods train is issued after examination in goods checking yards by JE/SSE/C&W.
TYPES OF GOODS TRAIN BPC:
- Intensive end to end BPC
- Premium BPC
- Closed circuit rake BPC
- Material train BPC
- INTENSIVE END TO END BPC:
- Goods trains checked in empty condition
- BPC is given without mentioning the destination
- The empty rake with this BPC moved to the loading point
- After getting loaded, the destination is written in the BPC
- On arrival at the destination, the BPC becomes invalid
- After unloading, if it is a TXR EXAMINATION YARD, the empty rake is offered for a certification.
- After unloading, if it is a NON- TXR examination yard, the empty rake is moved to the nearest TXR yard under
- GDR CHECK and offered for certification:
- Only one TXR yard can be by-passed with the permission of the Sr.DME.
- After unloading, if it is not a TXR yard and backloading is done, the loaded rake is moved to the nearest TXR yard in the direction of load under GDR joint check and offered for certification.
- After examination, the loaded rake is given BPC with the destination mentioned.
- The brake power while issuing the BPC should be 90% or more.
- The brake power on enroute should be 70% or more.
- Not more than four wagons may be replaced by certified wagons.
- The rake should not be stabled in a TXR yard by more than 24 hours.
Note: For BOST BRNA Steel Rakes, the Round Trip BPC valid for 2000 km / 12 days after certification of loading and securing of the consignment, kilometers run to be recorded by the loco pilot.
- PREMIUM BPC:
- Goods train is checked in empty condition
- BPC is given with validity period of 12 days
- Up to 12 days the rake can be loaded and unloaded to any number of times.
- On the 12th day, if the rake is in a loaded condition, a grace period of 3 days is permitted for movement to the unloading point.
- Brake power while issuing should be 95% or more.
- Brake power on enroute should be 70% or more.
- Not more than four wagons may be replaced by certified wagons.
- The rake should not be stabled in a TXR examination yard by more than 24 hours.
CLOSED CIRCUIT RAKE BPC:
- Goods train is examined in empty condition in the respective base depot
- BPC is given with validity period of 6000 km or 30 days whichever is earlier 7500 km or 35 days whichever is earlier.
- The loco pilots will log the kilometers run on every trip.
- If there is a discontinuity in logging of kilometers the validity of the BPC becomes
- 6000 km or 30 days becomes 15 days
- 7500 km or 35 days becomes 20 days
- Brake power while issuing BPC should be 100%
- Brake power enroute should be 70% or more.
- Not more than four wagons may be replaced by certified wagons.
- The rake should not be stabled in a TXR examination yard for more than 24 hours.
Note: For BTPN BCNHL & BOXNHL Rakes the validity of BPC
- 30 days without kilometer limit. In the next 5 days of grace period, the rake has to be moved to the base depot. The existing practice of recording the kilometers to be continued.
- Every CC rake has a closed circuit or zones of operation and this closed circuit should not be violated.
BPC FOR MATERIAL TRAINS:
- The material train is checked in an empty condition.
- BPC is issued for 30days period.
Brake power while issuing should be 90% or more. - Brake power in enroute should be 70% or more.
- BPC will be kept under the custody of the BTC.
